Description
The Cryptoporticus is part of the Domus Tiberiana complex and is a 130-metre-long space, datable to the Neronian age. Located below the area that in the 16th century was covered by the Horti Farnesiani, it extends along what must have been one of the sides of the Domus Tiberiana. The underground corridor, illuminated by wolf's mouth windows, has mosaic floors. On the vault of the Cryptoporticus, the stucco decoration of the coffered ceiling is visible (a copy, the original is in the Palatine Museum), with plant elements and cupids.
