Description

The Casa Museo Luigi Pirandello is the last home of the writer, and since 1962 has been the seat of the Institute of Pirandello Studies and Contemporary Italian Theatre, which is entrusted with the custody of the historical-artistic heritage and the protection and enhancement of the library and archives. The House is located in a small villa built in the 1910s near Villa Torlonia; the flat consists of a large living room-study and the bedroom where Pirandello died in 1936. The furnishings date from 1933, the year the writer moved back to Italy after his years in Berlin and Paris; some of the furniture dates from 1910 and comes from earlier Roman homes. The House also houses other archives and books, the artist's library, the Nobel Prize plaque, some of Fausto Pirandello's paintings, the uniform of the Royal Academy of Italy and the writer's personal effects.
The library and archives can be consulted and the house is open for guided tours.
