Description

BIBLIOMUSEUM

Ancient books and tools that have made the history of Gastronomy, collected with forty years of passion by Rossano Boscolo. An extraordinary journey through the history of Gastronomy from the 15th century to the present day!

The Museo della Cucina contains one of the most important and eclectic private collections of gastronomy in Italy.

The Museum, on the lower floor, displays a wide range of instruments that have been used over the centuries in haute cuisine, pastry-making, chocolate-making, ice-cream-making, bread-making and domestic kitchens. The exhibits range from early 17th-century Baroque ice cream moulds to 1950s gas cookers, from beautiful 19th-century Tuscan mezzine hobs and contemporary pasta machines to designer pots and pans from the second half of the 20th century. There are also true gems such as the first children's kitchen game, produced in Ravensburg in 1898, and simple, charming monastery tableware.

The Library occupies the entire upper floor of the building and offers a guided educational tour through the great History of Cuisine with curiosities, "tasty" news, recipes and words taken from the countless bibliographic rarities on display: the books that founded the taste, knowledge and techniques of world gastronomy.

From Platina to the first editions of Scappi and Artusi; from Menon to Careme and Escoffier, with particular attention to popular and domestic texts that have inhabited our kitchens over the centuries, and still do.

On the page https://www.museodellacucina.com/libri-in-esposizione/
you can access the list of volumes on display on the second floor of the Garum. By clicking on the individual cards you can read, after registering for free, each cataloguing card containing a bibliological and bibliographical description of the work in question; each description is then accompanied by numerous recipes, news and curiosities taken from the works themselves. This section is, in practice, a long and detailed guided tour of the marvellous historical-gastronomic journey marked out by the books kept in the Garum collection.
