The Historical-Didactic Museum of Games and Toys of the Twentieth Century exhibits about 2700 lithographed tin toys of European, American, and Asian manufacture between the Twenties and Sixties. The entire collection was started and increased in the course of years by the Viennese philatelist Fritz Billig together with his cousins Walter Rapaport and Alex Kramer. After the Anschluss – the annexation of Austria by the Nazis in 1938 – Fritz Billig was forced to move to New York with his family. Subsequently, the collection was bequeathed to Lisa and Franco Palmieri, Billig’s daughter and son-in-law.
