Description
Next to the Church of San Giovanni Battista dei Genovesi, the cloister is the best example of a 15th-century cloister. It is attributed to Baccio Pontelli and features an arched portico and architraved loggia with octagonal travertine pillars, characteristic of the architecture of the time of Pope Sixtus IV.
The cloister embraces a silent "orchard-garden", with melange, lemon and mandarin trees, with myrtle hedges, acanthus plants and climbing roses that frame the late 15th century travertine well, flanked by two Ionic columns, which stands in the centre of the garden.
