Generally lost and found items are delivered first to the State or Municipal Police station of the area where they are found, then they are transferred to Roma Capitale offices at Circonvallazione Ostiense n. 191.
If you lost your personal identification documents, and/or any item which includes personal identification, the Municipal Police will notify you by postcard after about a week later. Please wait at least 15 days, from the date of the loss, before contacting the Lost Property Office.
You can contact the Lost Property Office by email at oggettismarriti@comune.roma.it or by phone at +39 0667693214 or 0667693217.
In order to claim a lost item at Lost Property, the owner must present:
- a valid ID;
- a complaint of theft or loss with a detailed description of the object.
If the item is claimed by a person other than the owner, the person must provide a valid ID of the owner and a legal proxy signed by the owner.
PLEASE NOTE: The Lost Property Office will notify the appropriate Consulate for any items belonging to foreign citizens.
Fees
The person collecting the item has to pay:
- € 4,00 for the custody;
- € 5,00 for administration rights;
- € 15,00 for the deposit (in case the item is withdrawn after 30 days).
Any lost items can be delivered, on request, to your doorstep. Shipping costs and administration costs shall be borne by the claimant. All identity documents will be released at no charge.
